Tom Evans - Leader

Tom Evans Tom Evans was educated at The Purcell School, before reading music at St John's College, Cambridge, where he led both the university symphony orchestra and chamber orchestra. Since graduating he has led Orchestra of the City since its first concert in 2003.

He has performed both the Beethoven concerto and Dvorak's Romance as soloist with the orchestra, and with other amateur orchestras has performed concerti by Brahms, Mendelssohn and Mozart, as well as his own piece for violin and orchestra, Cantilena.

He has also led Hertfordshire County Youth Orchestra, Southbank Sinfonia and the Orchestra of Opera East Productions.

Tom has almost completed a PhD in composition at King's College London, where his supervisor is Dr Silvina Milstein, and he has taught undergraduate courses at the music departments of King's College London and Royal Holloway. His compositions have been performed at the Royal Festival Hall, the Aldeburgh Festival, the Duke's Hall at the Royal Academy of Music, Cambridge Summer Music Festival, Sounds Underground Festival, and the Jacqueline du Pré concert hall in Oxford.
